Aksharbharati, a curated book of Indian scripts by renowned calligrapher Achyut Palav, showcases the finest works from 35 top artists in the field. I am honored to be among the selected contributors, with two of my pieces featured in this prestigious collection. Both works are mixed media on paper, each offering a unique composition.
“Kausalyecha Ram” combines opposite strokes, utilizing cut nibs to achieve two different angles for broad-edge nib writing, creating a visually striking effect.
“Tejonidhi Lohgol” is another featured piece, inspired by a song from the popular Marathi musical play “Katyar Kaljat Ghusli,” which revolves around the theme of the sun. This artwork employs a circular composition where words are written in the perspective of sun rays, capturing the essence of the song’s theme. The radial design of “Tejonidhi Lohgol” demonstrates the versatility of the Devanagari script in creating visually striking and meaningful artworks.
Aksharbharati stands as a testament to the rich diversity and artistic potential of Indian scripts, bringing together traditional calligraphy and contemporary design sensibilities. The inclusion of these works in such a significant publication underscores the ongoing relevance and evolution of calligraphic art in India.
